Our Mailman

Just a note before I get into this......Our mail does not get to our house at any particular time....I usually check the box about a million times a day. If you were to ask me what time my mail came I would say, "It comes between 11:30am and 8:00pm(no joke). Not to mention that our mailman or women changes on a daily basis. If the mail comes consistently for two consecutive days in a row, I don't know what to do with myself. My whole day is shot, ok not really but it does catch me off guard.

Last Friday I was at that wedding all day, so I was so busy running around with my head cut off that I didn't even realize that I might even have mail until Saturday afternoon. Mom Wierschke and I were getting Brett ready to go to an exclusive(Brides side of the Family) luncheon and since we "knew" people we got in. Or it could have just been that fact that mom and I put a lot in to this wedding. Anyway I had Heather run out and get the mail, when she came back in she said, "The Mail man wants you to move the car it is too close to the mail box". I picked up his note and read it, it was this whole hot pink hand out that the Post office puts together to let you know that there is something obstructing the mailman's path. The simple hand written note says,

"Please move car forward a few feet. Thanks Mailman."

I thought ok that is weird our car has been sitting there since January(this is the Pontiac), no one else has said anything to me about it, why now? I didn't have the keys to the car Jon did so I figured that I would have Jon move it when he gets back from Penn State. Mom and I immediately left for our luncheon and didn't think about it again.

Saturday night rolled around and we had to run to Smith's to get food for Sunday Dinner. As I got to the car I realized that the mail that I got this afternoon must have been Fridays mail. Since it was 8:30pm, I knew for sure that the mail was here. When I pulled my mail out of the mail box there was another note from the mail man which read,

"Please move car or delivery isn't required. Thanks for you help. Mailman."

Oh I was mad, what did he think I was doing? Sitting in my house being defiant? "I'll show that mail man I am not going to move the car!" I mean come on I am not 14 anymore. I will have to admit the thought did cross my mind to measure out a "few" feet and only move it that much. I know not nice at all, but I was fuming all the way to Smiths. I kept saying come on lay off, you have no idea what I have been through the last month let alone the last couple of days.

So Finally Mom Wierschke convinced me to be nice. With that being said I left him a little note,

Dear Mailman,
I apologize for the car. I had no idea that it was an issue, in the last two months no one has addressed it to us. I am sorry that I didn’t get the car moved on Saturday. I have been planning a huge wedding all week, I didn’t get your first notice until Saturday afternoon (Fridays mail). We were running out the door to do some more wedding stuff, I didn’t have time to move the car nor did I have the keys. When I checked the mail late Saturday night I received your second notice. My husband has the keys and he was at Penn State all weekend. I promise that we will move the car tonight. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Ps have a piece of wedding cake

Yes I actually did leave his a piece of wedding cake. Unfortunately Jon got the flu on Monday night and we were not able to move the car that night. We made sure however to move it Tuesday morning. Sadly enough that did not satisfy our mailman and on tuesday late afternoon there came a knock on my door. The mail man with my mail in hand and the note that I wrote him inquired as to why we still hadn't moved our car, I told him that we did. His response was but it is not far enough forward. I told him that we would move it again and after he left, I put my shoes on and moved the car forward. Unfortunately on Wednesday we had to put our garbage cans behind the car for the garbage man, because we had moved to car to where the garbage cans sat on the road. Which still hindered the Mailman from reaching our box. This story is Sad but very true. The Moral of the story: Always be nice even if they are not nice to you.

Man, I'm glad that our mailman doesn't leave us nasty notes. He has to walk up to our doorstep anyway... maybe if we had some big dog that came out and bit him he's leave notes... but I don't want to do that. We all love the mailman right?
