On May 21, we had a Wierschke Family Reunion. It was just a small reunion, with Jon's Family and his grandparents. My sister in law, Becc and her family drove from Denver to be with us. This was a much needed reunion, since Grandma and Grandpa Wierschke had not met any of our children. Plus, with Grandparents getting older, we didn't want to wait too much longer.
We had a seven hour drive, which I was not looking forward too. Thankfully, I have amazing kids, and we all did well. As soon as we arrived, we got settled right in to cooking.
Here are a few pictures of our adventures. We had a blast, and really enjoyed each others company. Our Little CutenessThe Boys with their little Girl.
My Sweet boys showing off their necklaces. We had activities for the boys to do. For every activity that they accomplished, they earned a bead. They really loved their necklaces.
The whole family, minus me. Funny how that happens, there are very few pictures of me, but I am ok with that.Grandma and Grandpa with the grandkids.
I told you five weeks ago that Jon was studying for his Qualifying Exam. Which you can read here if you missed that post. We found out about three weeks ago, that Jon did in deed pass his Qualifying Exams. Which means that he is a full fledged PhD Candidate. In other exciting news, Jon just received funding for a project that he wants to work on. Which is nice, cause there in nothing like working on a project that you don't love.
Kate was given some hand-me down clothes that look pretty new. Anyway she was given a ton of dresses. I have decided that since our house was so hot with out air conditioning, that we would keep her in dresses. Now I just love having her in dresses the whole time. Here is Kate in one of her dresses, for the first time.
Wow, I can't believe that it has been a year, Where has all of the time gone? This last year has been a crazy one, full of Ups and Downs, we have had joys and desperation. We have Blessed you and prayed for you. I am so grateful that you came to our family! You can be a little dramatic at times, but you prefect for our little family in every way. I love your sweet snuggles and when I ask you to say, "Mama." and you smile at me a say "Dada." You are such a tease, and I love it. Your little laugh is so contagious, everytime you laugh, I just want to squeeze you.
It is truely amazing to watch your own kids grow up, something that I hope you will be able to do someday. You will not know what undying love or Christ-like Love is, until you have your own children. I have had days in the last year, that I would willingly give up everything I have, just to make you well when you were sick. I would have in a heartbeat traded places with you, so you would not have to suffer. I begged, pleaded, fasted, cried and worried over you in the last year. I would give my life for you.
I know that I am not a perfect mom, I am sure that there are some who are way better then I. Just remember that I would do anything for you!
We have just had problems with shrimp and fish lately. We had Ike die, but we replaced him with two ghost shrimp. Then we had to take Alphie back to the pet store. The pet store told us that he wasn't aggressive. Well when he started chasing my poor platys around the tank, I decided that it was time to take him back. Shortly after we took him back, Violet came down with Dropsy(just looking up the link for dropsy, made me sick). According to some dropsy is not curable, while other believe it is. We chose to treat her, but sadly she didn't make it. The pet store where we got Violets medicine, neglected to tell us to take out our Ghost shrimp, or it will kill them. So now the two shrimp that we bought to replace Ike, are on their last leg. We are hoping to get our tank filled with new fish soon.
We had decided to go to the park as a family, after dinner one night. While Brett, Kate and I were outside waiting for Jon, Brett saw an airplane flying over our house. He decided that he was going to fly his airplane(His hand). So, he is flying it and making all of the noises and then He makes an explosion sound. He throws his hands in the air to mimic and explosion, then he turn at me and says, "Oh no, it crashed. I broke my airplane." Both of us were laughing so hard.
A few weeks ago we are sitting in Church. Now Jon usually manages Brett, and I love on Kate. This particular Sunday was backwards, I had Brett. So I am listening to the talks that are being given, and all of the sudden I hear Brett snorting like a pig. I look over and here is Brett leaning out of our pew, looking at a girl across the isle. He continues snorting, I grab him and whisper in his ear, "Brett, you don't snort in church, ok?." His reply was, "Ok, mama." I go back to listening to the speaker, literally two second later I hear snorting again. I tell him again, "Brett knock that off it is rude." "Ok, mama." He says. He turns around and starts snorting AGAIN!! I put my hand over his mouth and I tell him, "Brett that is not how we talk to young ladies, you need to stop." He looks at me and replies, "Ok, mama." By this time the little girl is smiling and giggling, so there was no stopping him snorting at that point. Last week, I saw this little girls parents in the hall way and apologized for Brett snorting at her. They laughed and said that it was ok, their little girl loved it. I don't know if it will work for older girls or not. There are crazier things that a boy could do to a girl.
Wow, I can't believe that it has been three years since his birth. It seems to me that he grows so much everyday. I am so proud of him and I love him to pieces. I really couldn't imagine my life with out this sweet boy. He give me hours of enjoyment and is such a big help when I need him.
Here are a few things that Brett does/loves to do: *Count to 12 *Can Sing the alphabet, and only miss about 5 letters. *He knows His shapes. *He still loves to cook, I would say that it is more of a passion. *Another Passions is tractors, He still LOVES them. *Use hammers, screwdrivers, saws, nails. He pretty much likes to fix things. *Read books, He can read two books. Well read/ memorize, either way I am proud of him. *He Loves Dr Seuss books, and affectionately calls them his, "Seuss Books." *Brett loves it when I sing him the silliest songs. *He says his own prayers, he prays for everything under the sun. Including his(grandpa's) tractor. *He has the greatest imagination. He will go up to people and say, "Oh no, I ran out of gas. I need gas." Usually the person he is talking to, tells him that they don't have any gas. At that point, I whip out my imaginary gas can and give it to him. He always says, "Oh, thank you Mama!" And then goes back to fill up his tractor with gas.
Today for his brithday we are taking him to the Zoo, and then we are going to hang out with some friends and have Pizza. We are also going to have a photo shoot, so keep an eye out for pictures.
I am so grateful for my little boy, I love him more then life itself.
