Packing has taken me FOREVER!! Where did we get all of this junk from? could it have multipled on it's own?? I can't imagine that I would save that much stuff, just so that I could give it away to DI in a few months. I am sure that some people think that I am a pack rat, I really try not to be. All of my stuff has so many useful uses, I promise. Next years New Years Resolution is to throw out all the junk, I have a whole year to save up so that I can have a sense of accomplishment next year. It just might be the only resolution I keep! As my DI pile grows bigger and bigger, I am coming to the realization that less really is more.

Ah, packing with little babies! So fun! Although, so is everything else. Showering, cleaning, it's all an adventure!
When we went out to MD we put everything in storage and only took the bare necessities. Like, one spatula, instead of a drawerful, no knick knacks, etc. I thought I would miss things desperately and I didn't at all! I LOVED it! I promised myself that whenever we move to where ever we end up I'm going to go through our storage unit and get rid of at least half of all the stuff in there! It's mostly all junk that I can live without! Living the life of a minimalist is actually VERY liberating!
So I'm totally with you on this whole post! Good luck with everything!
I think I totally just commented twice about the same thing. Ha ha! I'm a dork!
Hi Kathlen, This is Abbie's mom. I feel for you packing with a little one. A story I thought you might find amusing (since you know Abbie) happened when Bill finishes his anesthesia training at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota and we were moving to Washington state. Abbie was almost Ella's age. Her older sister was 23months old. It had been a hectic morning and I went outside to the detached garage to get a box. While gone, Emalei pulled a chair up to the kitchen door and locked the deadbolt. I was outside and my two babies were inside. I tried to talk Emalei into opening the door but it didn't work. I went to the neighbors in a panic and called the hospital to see if Bill could come home and let me in. He was in surgery so it wasn't an easy task plus he road his bike that day. I would say about 45 min. later Bill got home and unlocked the door. Abbie was just sitting in her chair on the floor and Emalei was checking all the boxes out and had emptied quite a few. I laugh at it now but would have just stayed in Minn. the rest of my life if it meant I didn't have to pack with two babies in tow. Good luck with this big endevour.
